Redskins’ Hall explains his ‘overzealous’ rant

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — DeAngelo Hall says he “might have been a little overzealous” when he criticized the coaching staff in an expletive-filled rant following the Washington Redskins’ loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Hall said Wednesday that he met with coach Mike Shanahan and defensive coordinator Jim Haslett and came away understanding why Haslett called for an all-out blitz on third-and-21 late in Monday night’s 18-16 loss. Tony Romo spotted the blitz and completed a 30-yard pass to Dez Bryant, setting up the game-winning field goal.

Hall says he could have done a better job defending Bryant on the play. Hall also says he needs to watch what he says now that he’s a team captain.

Hall stands by his argument that he shouldn’t have received a facemask penalty on the play.
