Thursday, September 29, 2011
TACOMA, Wash. (AP) -- Washington State Patrol troopers are waiting at the base of a tree at Tacoma for a man who climbed the tree while running away.
KOMO News reports the man fled from a traffic stop Thursday night, climbed the tree and refused to come down.
By 6 a.m. Friday he had been up the tree about 7 hours. He had used his belt to strap himself to a limb.
Negotiators are trying to talk the man into coming down, and the patrol says they're prepared to wait him out.
