Oregon City couple convicted in death of infant
Faith healing at center of trial
Thursday, September 29, 2011
A husband and wife were both convicted of second degree manslaughter for not getting their newborn child medical attention. The young child later died.
Dale and Shannon Hickman are members of the Followers of Christ Church whose members believe in faith-healing over modern medical treatment.
The Hickmans' baby, David, was born two months premature at home in 2009 with church midwives advising them.
David lived for less than nine hours and no one called for medical help before he died.
