AMES, Iowa (AP) — It’s been a long time since the eyes of the Big 12 were fixed on Iowa State.

Iowa State (3-0), bolstered by the emergence of quarterback Steele Jantz, hosts No. 17 Texas (3-0) on Saturday night in the Big 12 opener for both teams.

It promises to be one of the biggest home games in recent memory for the Cyclones, who beat the Longhorns last season for the first time.

Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads says the Longhorns have more energy compared to 2010, when they finished just 5-7. Texas pounded UCLA 49-20 on Sept. 1 behind emerging sophomore quarterback Case McCoy.
