ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Broken Dreams collared pacesetter Kindle near the wire to win the $100,000 Senator Ken Maddy Stakes by a half-length for the second straight year on Saturday at Santa Anita.
Ridden by Garrett Gomez, Broken Dreams ran 6 1/2 furlongs on the hillside turf course in 1:11.81 and paid $8.40, $5 and $3.
Kindle returned $4.40 and $3.20, while 2-1 favorite Byrama was another three-quarters of a length back in third and paid $2.40 to show.
The victory, worth $60,000, increased Broken Dreams’ career earnings to $477,682, with seven wins in 22 starts.
