The Grant Generals of Portland got two touchdowns in a 12-second span of the first quarter and just kept scoring the rest of the night at McKenzie Stadium on Friday.

The Timberwolves were held to 16 yards and turned the ball over five times in the first half. Two snaps led to lost fumbles, and the Generals picked off three passes.

Grant’s Brant Peek opened the scoring on a 25-yard run. The Timberwolves then fumbled on their first play of the ensuing drive, with the Generals recovering at Heritage’s 1-yard line.

The next play, L.J. Sly-Cain was in the end zone, just 12 seconds after the first score.

Heritage (1-4) had a lone scoring threat in the first half, but it ended when Kyrell Bishop intercepted a pass in the end zone.

A few minutes later, Heritage got the ball back, only to see Grant’s Jonathan Haley return an interception 56 yards for a touchdown to make it 20-0.

Grant (4-1) got two touchdown passes from Paris Penn to cap the scoring in the first half.

The Generals added two more scores in the third quarter to go up by more than 40, making it a running-clock scenario.

Heritage receiver E’Lon Mack caught seven passes for 34 yards. Nate Jenkins and Rajheem Carrie each had long gains in the second half to give Heritage some positive plays with the ground game.

In all, Heritage finished with 114 yards of offense.

Grant won the turnover battle 6-0.

Grant’s Penn threw for 118 yards and two scores and rushed for 38 yards. Peek Jr. and Sly-Cain combined for 119 yards and four rushing touchdowns.
