Hight races to third straight Funny Car victory



LAS VEGAS (AP) — Robert Hight raced to his third straight Funny Car victory Sunday, beating Bob Tasca III in the final in he SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals.

Hight earned his 26th career victory with a final run of 4.154 seconds at 312.93 mph in his Ford Mustang. Tasca trailed in 4.213 at 292.14, also in a Mustang.

Spencer Massey won the Top Fuel competition and Allen Johnson topped the Pro Stock field at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Massey edged teammate Antron Brown at the finish line for his second victory of the season and the eighth of his career. Massey had a 3.830-second run at 323.89.

In Pro Stock, Johnson claimed his first win of the season and 10th of his career, outrunning Vincent Nobile in the final round. In a battle of Dodge Avengers, Johnson pulled away with a 6.648 at 207.30.
