INDEPENDENCE, Ohio (AP) — Cavaliers rookie guard Kyrie Irving did not take part in any contact drills in practice as he continues to recover from a sprained shoulder.

Irving wore an elastic brace Monday on his right shoulder, which he injured in Friday’s loss to Milwaukee. The NBA’s presumptive rookie of the year sat out Saturday’s game in New York, and coach Byron Scott does not yet know if the 20-year-old will play Tuesday against San Antonio. Scott said the decision will be up to him and he will be extra cautious with Irving.

Irving participated in some shooting drills following practice and joked around with Scott and teammates.

Scott says there is no doubt Irving will be named the league’s top rookie.

The Cavs have lost seven straight to fall from the playoff race.
