TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — A Tacoma woman who called 911 Friday and said she had murdered her child was charged Monday with first-degree murder.

The Pierce County prosecutor’s office said 28-year-old Aleesha Walker would make her first court appearance Monday afternoon.

The prosecutor’s office says Walker reported hearing voices and acted as directed by the voices. She said she struck the 2-year-old’s head on a dresser and smothered him.

Arriving officers found the body. He was declared dead and Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma.

The prosecutor’s office says Walker had been referred several times in the past to Child Protective Services.
