Crane removing debris from Bellingham marina fire

BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) — A barge with a crane is removing debris Wednesday at the Bellingham marina where officials believe two people died when their boat burned and sank.

A spokesman for the operation, Bellingham police Officer Mark Young, says they expect later Wednesday to recover the 42-foot boat where Jim Langei (LAN’-jee) and Sterling Taylor lived. Their boat was one of the boats destroyed in Friday’s boathouse fire at Squalicum Harbor.

Young says divers are in the water cutting debris to help the crane and barge crew.
