Pipe bomb disabled; Oregon highway reopens

FLORENCE, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State Police say a stretch of state highway near Florence has reopened after technicians disabled a homemade pipe bomb on a bridge.

The police said the device was “rendered safe” Tuesday night by a bomb squad, and Oregon 126W east of Three Rivers Casino was reopened after being closed three hours. The police typically don’t describe exactly what they do to such devices

The police were tipped off by a caller who described a pipe with a fuse on the shoulder of the bridge
