Car goes into E. Wash. canal; woman rescued

RICHLAND, Wash. (AP) -- Emergency crews in Richland, Wash., say a woman lost control of her car and plunged into an irrigation canal. The woman reportedly was alone in the car Friday afternoon. She's been rescued and taken to a local hospital.

The Tri-City Herald reports the driver was apparently leaving State Highway 240 when she lost control, crossed all lanes of Columbia Center Boulevard and plunged into the canal.
