Kalama man injured in motorcycle crash

Police say biker, 64, was going too fast in Chelatchie Prairie

A Kalama man was injured Saturday afternoon when his motorcycle struck a power pole in Chelatchie Prairie.

David Himebauch, 64, was riding on a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle when he lost control, drove off of the roadway and struck the pole. The crash occurred at about 3 p.m. Saturday on state Highway 503 at milepost 26, about 5 miles north of Amboy, according to Washington State Patrol.

Himebauch was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with hip and leg injuries, according to WSP. He was in satisfactory condition as of 5 p.m. Saturday.

Police said the crash was caused by Himebauch’s driving too fast. Charges are pending, according to WSP.

Himebauch was wearing a helmet. However, it did not comply with U.S. Department of Transportation requirements, police said.

The motorcycle was totaled.
