CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A veteran law enforcement officer is the new chief of the Nevada Highway Patrol.
The appointment of Troy L. Abney was announced Monday by Public Safety Director Chris Perry.
Abney has a 28-year law enforcement career and was an assistant chief of the California Highway Patrol where he oversaw 786 sworn and non-officer personnel. Most recently he served as director of the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training.
Abney replaces Bernie Curtis who has returned to his old job as chief of the Division of Parole and Probation.
