INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Christian Watford and Cody Zeller will play basketball next season at Indiana.
The school made the announcement in a release Tuesday morning after both players considered leaving early for the NBA.
Watford, who will be a senior, says he’s returning to earn his degree and add another chapter to the Hoosiers’ comeback from NCAA sanctions. He averaged 13.4 points and 5.8 rebounds in his first three seasons at Indiana.
Zeller averaged 15.6 points and 6.6 rebounds as a freshman and was an honorable mention All-American selection. Zeller says he’s excited about playing basketball in his home state again next season.
The return of Watford and Zeller means Indiana will have all five starters back from a team that reached the regional semifinals of the NCAA tournament.
