SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — State Fish and Wildlife agents are investigating the poaching of a moose in a popular hiking area near Spokane.
Agents believe the cow moose was killed Monday night near the top of Beacon Hill, near Minnehaha Park. It was butchered on the site and meat was removed early Tuesday.
KXLY reports (http://is.gd/iEo2uf ) the head and other animal parts were left in the area.
