2 boats sink in Anacortes marina fire, no injuries

ANACORTES, Wash. (AP) — The Coast Guard says no one was injured when two boats sank during a fire Tuesday night at a marina in Anacortes.

Petty Officer Eric Chandler in Seattle says no one was on board. The Coast Guard sent a boat from Bellingham during the fire and a team to monitor possible pollution.

The state Ecology Department is overseeing the cleanup. Spokeswoman Kathy Davis says as much as 150 gallons of fuel could spill. In addition to the two boats that sank, two other boats were damaged.

Another marina fire March 30 in Bellingham killed two people who lived aboard their boat.
