HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) — Matt Kuchar is just as excited to play the RBC Heritage this week as he was to contend at the Masters last Sunday.
The world’s 14th-ranked golfer is among four players in the top 20 taking part at the tournament at Harbour Town Golf Links. Also playing is No. 1 Luke Donald, runner-up to Brandt Snedeker here in 2011.
Kuchar was in the thick of the Masters chase last week. His eagle on No. 15 at Augusta National put him in a tie for the lead with three holes to go. A poor tee shot on the par-3 16th led to bogey and Kuchar ended up two shots behind champion Bubba Watson.
Kuchar understands what a Masters win would’ve meant, but won’t let that deter him from competing this weekend.
