RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina State’s DeShawn Painter and Jaqawn Raymond plan to transfer.

Team spokesman Dwayne Harrison said Wednesday night that the school has granted requested releases for both players.

Painter is a 6-foot-9 junior who averaged about six points and four rebounds in 37 games, with 30 games as a reserve. The Norfolk, Va., native is transferring to move closer to a family member who is ill.

Raymond was a freshman guard who played in 11 games and scored nine points overal. Raymond, who was recruited by former coach Sidney Lowe out of Statesboro, Ga., played 29 minutes all season.

The Wolfpack (24-13) returned to the NCAA tournament for the first time in six years and reached the round of 16 in the first season under coach Mark Gottfried.
