Touchmark hosts Parkinson’s Awareness Day

Touchmark at Fairway Village will host a Parkinson’s Awareness Day this month.

The event is from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 21 at Touchmark, formerly Waterford at Fairway Village, 2911 S.E. Village Loop, in east Vancouver. The cost to attend is $20, which includes lunch.

The event will include a video presentation by Parkinson’s Resources of Oregon, exercise class and demonstration of Parkinson’s-based exercise, demonstration of tai chi for Parkinson’s, latest research about how exercise effects Parkinson’s and information about speech therapy.

Former major league baseball player Ben Petrick is the event’s featured speaker. Petrick was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in his early 20s.

Touchmark plans to make the awareness day an annual event.
