MONTESANO, Wash. (AP) — A sheriff’s deputy who was shot and stabbed in an attack at the Grays Harbor County courthouse in Montesano says her life may have been saved by the judge who came to her aid.

Superior Court Judge David Edwards, who also was stabbed, is one of the people Deputy Polly Davin has thanked while recovering from her wounds.

She returned to work Monday and told The Daily World (http://is.gd/OXJktQ ) she’s amazed the March 9 attack wasn’t worse. She described the gunshot wound to her arm as a “Hollywood shot” that didn’t hit an artery or bone.

Edwards suffered minor stab wounds and returned to work the next Monday.

A 34-year-old McCleary man, Steven Kravetz, has been charged with attempted murder and assault. He remains in custody on $900,000 bail.
