OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Gov. Chris Gregoire says that the recently concluded legislative session was her most difficult, but that she’s ultimately happy with the bipartisan budget that lawmakers approved.

Gregoire said Thursday that no one got everything that they wanted, but that the budget “reflects what everybody wanted to come out of this legislative session.”

Lawmakers adjourned their double overtime session Wednesday morning, closing a roughly half-billion dollar shortfall and passing several bills making changes to how the state handles pensions, health care and future budgeting.

Gregoire says she wishes there was more money to do things like better fund basic public education. She said that there are likely things in the budget that she may veto once she goes through it thoroughly. She also says she would like more money in the ending fund balance.
