BOSTON (AP) — The Red Sox may be struggling, but the team’s beloved Fenway Park continues to win over fans as it celebrates its 100th birthday.

Loyal citizens of Red Sox nation returned to Fenway Friday to celebrate opening day and the start of the park’s 101st season.

Sal D’Amico brought his six-year-old son Sal Jr. to his first Sox game, continuing a tradition that started when D’Amico’s father brought him to Fenway as a boy.

The Massachusetts man says the home of the Green Monster is a “magical” place to him. He says win or lose, opening day will be a memory to treasure.

The Red Sox may be looking for a little magic too as they try to overcome a tough 1-5 start to the season.

Fenway opened April 20, 1912.
