Principals on the move in Vancouver district
Several chools will have new leadership

Vancouver Public Schools announced changes in several principal positions for the coming school year. The assignments still must be approved by the school board.
April Whipple, associate principal at Discovery Middle School, has been named principal at Peter S. Ogden Elementary School. She will replace Marcie Ramberg, who is retiring. Marjorie McCluer, associate principal at Gaiser Middle School, will take Whipple’s place as associate principal at Discovery. Greg Clark, associate principal at Wickenburg High School in Wickenburg, Ariz., will take McCluer’s place at Gaiser.
Travis Bond, associate principal at Sarah J. Anderson Elementary School, has been named principal at Sacajawea Elementary School. He will replace Tamarah Grigg. Patrick Conners, associate principal at McLoughlin Middle School, will take Bond’s place at Sarah J. Anderson. Megan Botnen, teacher at Skyview High School, will take Conners’ place at McLoughlin.
Donna Jeffries, associate principal at Fort Vancouver High School, has been named associate principal at Columbia River High School. She will replace Rick Wilson, who is the new executive director of the Vancouver Education Association. Dirk Hansen, teacher at Mount Si High School in Snoqualmie School District, will take Jeffries’ place at Fort Vancouver.
Lori Rotherham, associate principal at Heritage High School in the Evergreen school district, has been named associate principal at the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics. She will replace Patricia Lilly, who is retiring.
As previously announced, Alex Otoupal, associate principal at Skyview High School, has been named principal at Columbia River High School. He will replace Christina Iremonger, who will be principal at Vancouver iTech Preparatory, the district’s new STEM magnet school. Jim Gray, acting associate principal at Skyview High School, will become an associate principal at Skyview.
Principals are paid an annual salary of about $115,000 in the Vancouver school district, according to district documents. Associate principals are paid about $101,000.
