TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — The City of Tacoma has published online an assessment of the city’s gang problem and programs available for youths.

The News-Tribune (http://is.gd/84vLEQ ) reports the assessment is posted on the city’s website. The City Council authorized the review in 2010. They paid $50,000 to a Missouri-based firm to do the work.

The assessment counted the number of gang members in the city, the crimes they commit, the programs that might get them out of gangs and the attractions of the lifestyle.

City Council members were briefed on the assessment in March but the final report has just been made available to the public.
