KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Royals have recalled right-handed reliever Louis Coleman from Triple-A Omaha.
The Royals made the move before playing the Cleveland Indians on Sunday, and now have a 13-man pitching staff to bolster an overworked bullpen.
To make room for Coleman on the roster, the Royals optioned outfielder Jarrod Dyson to Omaha.
Coleman, a 2009 fifth-round draft pick from LSU, had a 1.69 earned run average and a save in three appearances with Omaha. He allowed three hits and struck out four in 5 1-3 innings.
He was 1-4 with a 2.87 ERA in 48 relief appearances as a rookie last year.
