Ex-Mets worker gets probation in memorabilia case

NEW YORK (AP) -- The New York Mets' longtime clubhouse manager has been sentenced to five years of probation.
Charlie Samuels admitted in February to having $2.3 million worth of team memorabilia. He pleaded guilty to possessing stolen property and tax fraud.
The 55-year-old is also banned from any Mets facility, even if he buys a ticket.
The team fired Samuels in 2010. He had worked for the Mets since 1976 and became equipment manager in 1983.
The Mets issued a statement when Samuels pleaded guilty, thanking those involved in the investigation.
