Kucinich to voters: Should I run in Wash. state?

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich is asking voters whether he should run for Congress in Washington state.

Kucinich sent out a survey to his supporters on Sunday asking them for input. He said he wanted guidance and that the submissions would be critical to his decision.

This year’s redistricting process forced Kucinich into a Democratic primary in Ohio that he lost last month. Washington state Democratic Party chair Dwight Pelz has made clear that he doesn’t want Kucinich making the switch to the West Coast.

Kucinich sought the Democratic nomination for president in 2004 and 2008. The 65-year-old has roots in his hometown of Cleveland, where he was mayor and first ran for city council at age 21.

Washington has three open congressional seats this year.
