Pitcher Estarlin Arias suspended for 50 games

NEW YORK (AP) -- Free agent pitcher Estarlin Arias has been suspended for 50 games for a positive drug test under baseball's minor league program.

The commissioner's office said Monday he tested positive for metabolites of Boldenone.

Arias, a right-hander who turns 18 on May 22, had agreed to a contract with Washington in January. The contract was withdrawn following the positive test, and the suspension will start when he signs with a major league organization.

There have been 31 suspensions this year under the minor league drug program.
