In an ongoing effort to help people protect their personal information, Lacamas Community Credit Union is sponsoring two free shred day events in May.

The Vancouver area Shred Day will be Saturday, May 5, at LCCU’s Terrace Branch, 19200 S.E. 31st St., in Camas, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Skamania County Shred Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Stevenson Branch, 147 S.W. First St., in Stevenson. Both events are free and open to the public.

The public is invited to bring personal documents for secure shredding at no cost. Documents will be professionally shredded on site by a third-party, as a community service provided by the credit union. The events will take place rain or shine.

“Sponsoring these events for our valued members and the public is a proactive way to help people keep their personal information from getting into the wrong hands,” said LCCU President/CEO Kathleen Romane. “People really appreciate the opportunity to securely discard their unwanted personal documents.”

This is the fifth consecutive year the credit union has held its Camas shred event and its second in Stevenson.

Lacamas Community Credit Union was the first credit union established in Southwest Washington, chartered in 1936. The credit union serves anyone who lives or works in Southwest Washington.
