Two people and a puppy left their home north of Hockinson safely on Wednesday after a wood stove insert caught fire and it spread to wood framing around the insert.

Fire District 3 was called to 19623 N.E. 173rd Court at 2:19 p.m. and the first crew arrived seven minutes later, said Battalion Chief Dave O’Brien.

Firefighters found smoke coming from the home’s front, and prevented flames from spreading beyond the wood stove area. No one was reported injured.

The cause and dollar damage estimate were under investigation by a Clark County deputy fire marshal.

Clark County sheriff’s deputies also responded, as did Clark County Fire & Rescue and AMR ambulance service.

The home is owned by Peter and Deena Riggio, according to Clark County property records.
