FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long says the search for a new football coach will extend beyond this weekend.

Long says he has begun reviewing potential candidates inside and outside the program to replace Bobby Petrino, who was fired April 10 for hiring his mistress and failing to disclose the conflict of interest.

Long has previously said he would consider hiring either a permanent head coach or possibly an interim for the 2012 season.

The Razorbacks will wrap up spring practice Saturday with the annual Red-White game. Long says he wants the focus to be on the game, not the coaching search. Arkansas was 11-2 last season, finishing ranked No. 5 after a Cotton Bowl win over Kansas State.
