The Clark College baseball team came away with a home split against Green River of Auburn on Saturday at Kindsfather Field.

The Penguins (19-9, 7-7 NWAACC West) won the first game 4-3, but lost the second 2-1.

Clark’s three-run third inning had the Penguins in front 3-1 in the opener, and Casey Sawyer’s leadoff home run in the sixth provided a needed insurance run.

Green River (5-23, 2-12) rallied in the ninth with two runs before Eli Fulton got the final out for the save. Starter TJ Pruneda went 8 1/3 for the win, striking out three.

Green River put up a run in the first and second inning for a 2-0 lead in the second game.

Evan Pickett’s solo home run in the sixth inning got Clark on the board.

The Penguins tried to rally in the seventh, but left the bases loaded without scoring.

Clark and Green River meet today in Auburn for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
