LAKEWOOD, Wash. (AP) — A 40-year-old mental patient at Western State Hospital is accused of killing another patient by stabbing a pen or pencil into his ear.

Lakewood police say responders from West Pierce Fire & Rescue found a 28-year-old man dead in another patient’s room Friday afternoon.

The News Tribune reported Sunday (http://bit.ly/I63SV3 ) that the 40-year-old patient who lived in the room was found hiding in a nearby room. Police say the man told detectives in interviews that he killed his fellow patient over a dispute about his behavior.

Neither the suspect nor the victim has been identified.
