SISTERS, Ore. (AP) — A small plane that crashed on the east side of Central Oregon’s Cascade Range, killing three people, was a high-performance single-engine aircraft built from a kit.

The Federal Aviation Administration identified the plane that crashed Monday as a Lancair IV-Propjet.

The victims were not immediately identified.

Lancair International is based in Redmond, Ore.

Marketing and sales director Doug Meyer says the Lancair IV-Propjet is a single-engine four-seater made from carbon fiber, and capable of 350 mph. The model was designed in 1992, and there were about 600 sold as kits before it was replaced by another design.
