SISTERS, Ore. (AP) — The Deschutes County sheriff’s office says a thorough search of the wreckage of a light plane that crashed in Central Oregon shows two people were killed. Earlier reports said three people died.

Lt. Chad Davis says 68-year-old Harry Mortimer of Chicago and 52-year-old Patrick Franzen of Bend were the only people aboard the plane. The kit-built high-performance aircraft crashed Monday on the east side of the Cascade Range near Sisters, Ore.

The plane was described as a single-engine Lancair IV-Propjet.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
