Tuesday, April 24, 2012
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- Lane County sheriff's officers say human remains have been found on land bordering a landfill about three miles south of Eugene.
The remains were found Monday near Short Mountain Landfill.
Officials tell The Register-Guard it appears the body has been there since before last fall.
Investigators said Tuesday that the remains are likely those of one of three missing local adults. Dental records are being checked.
Sheriff's Capt. Byron Trapp says a medical examiner hopes to determine the cause and manner of death.
