Ore. attorney general to be Reed College president

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Reed College says Oregon Attorney General John Kroger will be its next president.

The Portland liberal arts school announced the selection Tuesday.

Kroger is nearing the end of his term as attorney general.

Last year, he said he wouldn’t run for re-election because of what he called a significant but not life-threatening medical condition.

Kroger will succeed Colin Diver, who is retiring after a decade as leader of the school.

Kroger, a Democrat, was a law professor at Lewis & Clark College before running for attorney general in the 2008 election.
