NEW YORK (AP) — Olympian and U.S. record-holder Ryan Hall will compete in the New York City Marathon this fall, and he’ll be joined by New Zealand’s Kim Smith.

The New York Road Runners announced Wednesday that Hall and Smith will compete Nov. 4 in the five-borough race.

Hall, of Big Bear Lake, Calif., qualified for the London Olympics in January. He’ll run his second New York marathon after finishing fourth in 2009. At the 2011 Boston Marathon, he finished fourth in 2 hours, 4 minutes, 58 seconds for the fastest marathon run by an American.

Smith will be making her fourth appearance in New York. She placed fifth the last two years.

More than 140,000 people applied for the race, which will have 47,500 runners.
