SEATTLE (AP) — A 21-year-old woman who recently moved to Seattle from Albuquerque, N.M., remains in critical condition Wednesday after she was shot in the face in a drive-by shooting.

The Seattle mayor and police officials held a news conference Tuesday to ask the public for help in finding the shooter. Mayor Mike McGinn says Nicole Westbrook is fighting for her life at Harborview Medical Center.

She was shot early Sunday morning while walking home with her boyfriend in the Pioneer Square neighborhood. Police believe it was a random shooting.

Westbrook was taking culinary classes at the Art Institute of Seattle and planned to become a chef. Marcia Westbrook describes her sister as a beautiful Navajo woman who was just starting a new life.
