BEND, Ore. (AP) — Police say two people went through Bend residential garbage to find documents they used to create fake IDs and fraudulent checks.
The two, 25-year-old Eric Wade Lysne and 39-year-old Laura Ann Randall, were arraigned Wednesday on identity theft charges in Deschutes County Circuit Court.
The Bulletin reports the two were arrested after a two-month investigation. One victim says nine fraudulent checks totaling $1,800 were written on her account. Most were used at a grocery store to purchase gift cards.
Bend police are advising residents to shred old checks and any documents with identifying information.
