KALAMA, Wash. (AP) — Police in Kalama say a man just hours out of jail led them on a wild car and foot chase that ended with officers pulling out a stun gun and pepper spray.

The Daily News reports that police first responded Wednesday afternoon to a report of a car driving recklessly on northbound Interstate 5. That was followed by reports of the same car nearly striking children and other pedestrians in a residential area.

Police say the driver eventually crashed into a utility pole, then fled on foot, racing through a crowded restaurant and across Main Street before officers caught up to him.

They say they used the stun gun and spray when he resisted arrest.

Police say 47-year-old Kevin J. Hamrick of Castle Rock was arrested for investigation of offenses including DUI, felony eluding, negligent driving, felony harassment and resisting arrest.
