MOUTIER, Switzerland (AP) — Jonathan Hivert of France was strongest on an uphill finish to Thursday’s third stage of the Tour de Romandie, and Bradley Wiggins of Britain retained the overall lead.

Hivert edged Rui Costa of Portugal on a narrow, winding road to take the victory for second-tier team Saur-Sojasun in 3 hours, 48 minutes, 11 seconds.

Luis Leon Sanchez of Spain was third in the same time for the 93-mile trek from Montbeliard in France to Moutier.

Wiggins, who won Wednesday’s stage, retained his seven-second lead over Sky teammate Michael Rogers of Australia.

Bauke Mollema of the Netherlands was third, another two seconds back.

Friday’s stage is a 98-mile route from La Neuveville to Charmey. The race ends on Sunday.
