Letter: No break for middle class

Every working middle class family in America received an $800 increase for 2011 taxes when Congress neglected to renew the Make Work Pay tax credit. That is the largest tax increase in recent history.

I can’t help but notice that all of Mitt Romney’s tax breaks are still in effect, as are those for President Obama’s Wall Street cronies. Only middle class tax breaks were allowed to expire. That’s because neither party gives a hoot about the middle class. They represent only the hogs that feed at the D.C. trough. That’s why Romney’s tax breaks are still intact, but not yours and mine.

Despite all the baloney about “fighting for us,” this happened on Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Butler’s, R-Camas, watch, and she didn’t lift a finger to do anything about it. Neither did Sens. Patty Murray, D-Wash., or Maria Cantwell, D-Wash. They were all too busy slopping the hogs. If these people continue to get re-elected, then “we the people” will get exactly what we deserve, a fleecing.

As for me, I’ll vote for independent or third-party candidates for federal office. Voting “D” or “R” would waste my vote.
