Mountain View’s Jessica Alcomendas has been voted The Columbian’s high school athlete of the week for the week of April 16-21 by a vote of fans on Facebook.
Alcomendas collected 48 percent of the 696 votes cast this week to beat out Mountain View boys soccer player Ngawang Choephel, who earned 40.7 percent of the vote.
Alcomendas went 8 for 11 with two doubles, a home run, two stolen bases and seven RBI in three league wins for the Thunder.
The other candidates were Columbia River track and field athlete Jennifer DeBellis, Hudson’s Bay baseball player Buck Hale and Skyview boys track and field athlete Jameson Shirley.
