MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota Twins right-hander Scott Baker has started the long rehab process after Tommy John surgery, and he says he hopes to finally put behind him the elbow problems that have bothered him for years.
Baker spoke to reporters Friday for the first time since having the surgery. Initially he was scheduled to have the flexor pronator tendon repaired in his right arm. Once doctors opened up his arm, they discovered the ligament-replacement procedure was needed.
Baker will be a free agent after this season and is holding out hope he’ll be ready for next season. He says the surgery shows that he wasn’t embellishing his arm issues over the past couple of seasons and he is looking forward to finally pitching with a healthy elbow.
