LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — The Chicago Bears added a second big wide receiver to their offense Friday by trading up to select South Carolina’s Alshon Jeffery with the 45th pick in the NFL draft.
The Bears gave up a fifth-round pick and their 50th overall pick to St. Louis to move up and make the selection.
Jeffery joins a receiver corps that was already bulked up by the addition of Brandon Marshall during the offseason.
Jeffery had 1,517 receiving yards as a sophomore in 2010 but just 762 last season. Jeffery had 183 catches for 3,042 yards and 23 TD in his career. He suffered a broken bone in his hand in the 2011 season finale
