ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — The Denver Broncos made a bit of a surprise selection by taking defensive lineman Derek Wolfe from Cincinnati in the second round of the NFL draft.

After sitting on the sideline for the first round, the Broncos plunged into the draft by taking Wolfe at No. 36. He’s a speedy 6-foot-5, 295-pound lineman who can play both tackle and end.

It was somewhat of a shocking pick with highly touted defensive tackles Jerel Worthy and Kendall Reyes still on the board.

The Broncos were constantly moving around Thursday, trading first with New England and later with Tampa Bay. In the end, Denver wound up with the Bucs’ second-rounder, the 36th overall, and the 101st selection in the fourth round.

Denver drafts again in the second round at No. 57.
