IRVING, Texas (AP) — Morris Claiborne looks forward to the chance of trying to do what cornerback Deion Sanders did for the Dallas Cowboys.
The Cowboys traded up eight spots and gave up a second-round pick to get Claiborne with the sixth overall pick in the NFL draft. Dallas owner Jerry Jones says the All-American from LSU is a difference-maker and the best cornerback prospect Cowboys’ scouts have graded since Sanders, the Hall of Famer and key part of their last Super Bowl championship.
During a visit to the Cowboys’ facility Friday, Claiborne said he must be doing something right to hear his name in the same sentence with Sanders.
Claiborne says Sanders was a great player and that he’s now going to try to leave his own mark on the Cowboys.
