Roof cleaning completed at Tacoma Dome

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) -- It's spring and the Tacoma Dome's roof has been scrubbed -- this time courtesy of an anonymous donor.

The City of Tacoma said Friday that a six-person crew from Pioneer Masonry has finished the work ahead of schedule and within budget.

The News Tribune reports (http://is.gd/6m3Mds ) that the crew rappelled down the domed arena roof with scrub brushes and power washers.

The scrubbing was the third for the roof -- and the first time the dome didn't have to pick up the tab. An anonymous donor agreed to provide nearly $104,000, requiring that the work be completed by May 8.

Mayor Marilyn Strickland offered her thanks.
